Volunteer Opportunities at Historic Huguenot Street
Volunteers are an important part of the family here at Historic Huguenot Street. Consider sharing your love of the Hudson Valley and its history and architecture by becoming a volunteer or intern.
Lead visitors on tours of the historic homes.
Interact with the guests in the Visitors Center.
Investigate genealogy, history, and other topics in the library.
Assist the curatorial staff with the management of our collections.
Celebrate with us at special events.
No previous knowledge is necessary and all training is provided. Just bring your enthusiasm and curiosity.
Benefits of being a volunteer or intern:
Volunteers receive free guided tours, reduced rates to special events, monthly coffee-hours, end-of-season gatherings and other benefits.
Volunteers learn about the history of New Paltz and the surrounding areas, including art, architecture, archaeology, anthropology, archives, preservation, and material culture.
Volunteers will have the opportunity to meet new and interesting people and share with them your love of the Hudson Valley. You’ll become a part of the story here on the street while supporting a member-sponsored, non profit National Historic Landmark District.
If you have any interest in history or working with the public, we can tailor the activities to meet your needs, abilities and desires.
All are welcome!
If you are interested in learning more about volunteering or becoming an intern please fill out and return our volunteer application form or contact Rebecca Mackey, Programs, Tours and Visitor Services Manager, via email or at 845-255-1660, extension 105. She will let you know if any volunteer opportunities are currently available and direct you to the appropriate staff member as needed. Thank you for your interest in giving back to Historic Huguenot Street.
