Celebrates Volunteerism in Ulster County
Volunteers on the Monday, January 17th Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service came out to the Rondout Valley Animals for Adoption shelter in Accord, NY to learn how shelter animals can be readied for adoption into new homes. Volunteers learned to train the animals in basic obedience and walked them in the snowy fields surrounding the shelter. After a day of service around the county, volunteers gathered at Jack & Luna’s Cafe in Stone Ridge, NY for the UlsterCorps Serve Together volunteer party featuring live music from the ukelele ensemble WeCanLeLe, singer songwriter Zoe Levy-Serano, and rappers Dani Strubel-Banks and Duncan Crowley. UlsterCorps commemorated Martin Luther King’s vision for bring communities together by launching its new “Serve Together” program on Monday, January 17th. Serve Together highlights volunteer opportunities in the community that family and friends can do together.
