The mission of the Center for Creative Education is to create a better world by nurturing and empowering youth and community through the arts. CCE was established as a non-profit organization in 1989 and launched its first youth arts education program in Kingston, New York in 1997. The following year CCE established the Stone Ridge Center for the Arts (SRCA) as a community center, performance space, and administrative headquarters. Their new Kingston complex has a 1300 square foot dance studio, a percussion studio, homework and tutoring center, and a computer music lab that is being developed in collaboration with the Kingston School District’s Department of Fine Arts and Enrichment. This lab will have the equipment to offer courses currently unavailable at the high school and will provide training to both students and District staff. Volunteers needed for office help, clean-up, and event assistance.

Homework help and other enrichment activities such as reading, writing, crafts, technology, financial literacy, and life skills lessons.
We are looking for volunteers to help us facilitate and supervise the activities.
Cornell Cooperative Extension Tech Wizards Mentoring
4-H Mentoring Programs in Ulster County provide life and academic skill mentoring to underserved youth in 5th-10th grades in Kingston and Ellenville. The Tech Wizards program achieves these goals through small group mentoring in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM), fields in which underserved youth are typically underrepresented, and through the completion of community service projects. Each Tech Wizards Mentor is responsible for facilitating STEM activities with a small group of up to 4 youth in a structured afterschool environment. By committing to become a Tech Wizards Mentor, you will receive training and support to become a Mentor to up to 4 youth between the ages of 9 and 15. You will learn how to facilitate fun activities and experiments with your Mentees that could include geocaching, robotics and computer coding, and help them to complete a 15 hour community improvement project in Ellenville.

Hudson River Maritime Museum
Hudson River Maritime Museum in Kingston has available a variety of volunteer opportunities. Staff are seeking people to assist with guided history and educational tours within the museum galleries and around campus. Volunteers are also needed for public tours on board Solaris, the museum’s 100% solar powered tour boat and floating classroom. No experience is necessary and training will be provided. Prospective volunteers should have an interest in local history, weekend and/or evening availability, and a desire to work with the public. Volunteer at the office of The Lisa Libraries, the “Johnny Appleseed” of children’s books, located in midtown Kingston, NY. The Lisa Libraries is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that donates books to children and grassroots organizations serving children in poor and under-served areas. Donation sites include after-school centers, hospital visiting rooms, homeless shelters and prisons. In 2008, The Lisa Libraries donated over 27,000 new children’s books across the United States. Volunteers have various options to help, including data entry, sorting and cataloging the books, and packing up books to be shipped for donation.

Max’s Kansas City Project – FEARLESS YOUth
The Max’s Kansas City Project is wanting to mobilize a team for our teen empowerment through the arts program FEARLESS YOUth, to reduce the risk of substance abuse and suicide we introduce teens to the arts as a creative outlet. After the success of of Arts Workshop series with Kingston High School students we will be launching a Youtube and Instagram channel to expand on the program and plan to partner with other substance abuse and suicide prevention and mental health programs in the Hudson Valley. Mentor Me of Ulster County’s mission is to match at-promise youth to inspiring mentors focused on whole person wellness and supportive relationships. We pride ourselves in recognizing that every child comes from a unique background and experiences toxic stress and life situations in different ways. We pay attention to Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES). We ASK the compassionate questions, respond in HELPing statements and work towards HOPE. We have many volunteer opportunities from being a Mentor to helping at various events, to keeping us organized. We require mentors dedicate 4 hours a month to in person time with their mentee.
